2,000 minutes. That’s how long I’ve spent listening to strangers pour their hearts out on Loqui Listening. That’s over 33 hours of whispered anxieties, tearful confessions, and bravely shared secrets from one stranger to another. Being a Listener has been an amazing experience. What It’s Really Like to Be a Listener

On the listener side, I’ve been fortunate to connect with people from all kinds of backgrounds and lived experiences — people who often open my eyes to perspectives I’d never have found on my own. It’s a genuine privilege to lend a virtual ear to someone in need, whether they’re navigating a rocky relationship, rebuilding self-esteem after being judged for who they are, working through a toxic breakup, venting about politics, buzzing with excitement over a first date, or simply looking for a sounding board when they don’t have access to a therapist.

The work can be challenging, but in a genuinely rewarding way.

In a way, I get to help people work through their problems, and doing so helps me put my own life in perspective too. I find this work incredibly meaningful — it’s something I feel proud of at the end of the day. Why Anonymity Makes People Open Up

As a listener on the platform, I never anticipated the depth of connection — or the sense of reward — that would come from simply offering my ears to people who need them. Each day I log in without knowing who I’ll connect with or what I’ll hear, but I show up with an open mind and an open heart. Some days it’s a few quick calls offering a moment of support. Other days it’s a longer back-and-forth with someone working through a hard decision. Either way, there’s a consistent thread of gratitude — a shared understanding that sometimes, all we need is someone to truly listen. These 2,000+ minutes have been a profound experience — proof of how much a simple, honest conversation can matter.
